My Favorite Food thus far

Every time I go out to eat at a Chinese restaurant or when I'm with my coworkers, I always want to order this one dish that I never get sick off. They should definitely make more of these kinds of dishes here in the states, but they don't since Americans and Westerners are afraid of eating the rest of the animal's body parts other than the "body." The feet, head, legs, etc. are just as yummy as well. You're going to be putting sauce on it anyway...

I love Salmon Heads and any kinds of fish heads. I am loving the Vietnamese styled fried catfish...just thinking about it is making my mouth salivate - like Pavlov's dog.. haha. What a (not) surprise I found on my kitchen table:

I'm sure grounded fish heads were put in the making of McDonald's Fish o'Fillets...

Homemade Salmon head with bean sauce, soysauce, black beans, and taro - the best out there made by my mom. I have to say I'm quite spoiled since sometimes they make really good food. Haha - and yet I complain. If my mom knew how to access the internet, I'm sure she would be delighted that I am promoting her food online.

Damn!

My computer has been hit with viruses here and there so I'm sure all my photos, my documents, and music are all lost. Seven years in the making down the drain. I don't think it can be recovered because Windows can't even be opened. Damn you Windows Vista! I still have my laptop but it's an old thing. My desktop computer was purchased half a year ago, too. All my files from my old computer were transferred to this new one. Wow, it is going to be a fresh new start - something I wasn't hoping that it would happen so quickly. I'm not sure if it's because it's the year of the ox and it's supposed to be bad luck, but I feel like it's bad luck for me every week. What can I do about? I can mope for so long till it has to get better. Anyway...

If you're into makeup, E.L.F. is offering a free 27 mini piece makeup collection when you purchase ANYTHING from their site. I found this coupon floating around and it's such a great deal. It can be anything from a lip gloss that costs $1.00 and you'll receive this free 27 mini piece makeup collection. This mini makeup collection is originally $15.00 and includes many, many things such as:
  • Eyeshadows
  • Face concealers
  • Eyebrow colours
  • Brushes for the face, eyes, lips
  • Lipglosses
As for the quality, E.L.F. is quite well known and has been reviewed by magazines like Allure, Lucky Magazine, etc. They are way better than those you find at drugstores at similar prices like N.Y.C., Wet N' Wild, etc. E.L.F. provides CHEAP stuff for quality stuff (well for some of them). The thing is that E.L.F. has a $6.95 shipping rate so if you purchase a $1.00 product, the total price for that product is $7.95 + taxes. However, remember you'll be getting that FREE (retail $15.00) makeup collection. I might try it but I never put on those kinds of makeup... I remember my male coworker said in Canto, "What?! You're such a big girl and that you don't even own any lipstick???" So? I think it's quite good. This palette contains many colours so it's pretty versatile including your browns, greens, neutrals, smokey eyes, etc. So here is a recap.

Buy anything from E.L.F. ANYTHING at their website:
and you'll get this makeup collection FREE:

Use coupon code: LOYAL
Expires on 12/31/2009. Good for gifts for the holidays!
Shipping is to U.S.A. and Canada. I don't think it can be shipped internationally unfortunately.
Shipping starts $6.95.

Enjoy.

Rodarte x Target

The next collaboration on Target's list is with Rodarte! The designers and founders of Rodarte are going to do a 55 piece with Target, prices ranging from $7.99 to $79.99. Talk about good deal when you're comparing those numbers to triple/quadruple digit prices. I wasn't really pleased with Anna Sui's collaboration but I'm hoping that Rodarte's pieces will be wearable and affordable to the masses. There were photos of the collection leaked but Target quickly caught them and now there are only a few images of the collection. It goes on sale December 20th, 2009 to February 6th, 2010 in selected Target stores and Target.com online.

I believe both of these dresses are about $40.00. (halter dress source: Teen VogueDakota Fanning wearing Rodarte for Target)

Apparently, during a preview of the Rodarte line, some editors got to score some free "samples" of the clothing. One editor decided to auction off one of the Rodarte tops and well he/she got caught! Do you think earning an additional $10 is worth jeopardizing your career? Ha --- I think not.

In Their Closet x Handbag Heaven

Our one year anniversary at work is coming up, November 21, 2009. We are preparing a Latin dance for work... But anyway, speaking of one year anniversaries, there is another one coming up, a more anticipated one! In Their Closet is collaborating with Handbag Heaven to host a contest to give one of their bags (your choice) just to celebrate In Their Closet's one year of exposing great knockoffs to the public. I got my eye on the Marc Jacobs inspired Stam bag (shown in red on this flyer). It's only $50 andn it looks freaking similar to the $1,275 real thing. I think the real thing is also sold out so this is a good snatch.

Check here for more details about the contest!

In Their Closet is one of the sources I refer to when it comes to knockoffs because the blogger, Irina,  puts a lot of effort in finding good deals of designer "inspired" stuff (clothes, shoes, bags, etc.) at way cheaper prices. I got the honor of her mentioning my name on her site (just listed as Crystal) when I found a great knockoff of the Balmain Crystal Embellished Studded Sandals from Wet Seal.

Balmain Alternatives aka Knockoffs

I was at Wet Seal and I wanted to see if they had any affordable wedges. I love, love, wearing wedges because it gives you height, comfort, and edge. Haha - I just had to add the "edge." Anyway, they don't have any good wedges, but I stumbled upon a strappy heel that was on sale for $15.00 (originally $36.50). Yes, that is a real deal if you like your heels embellished with fake stones. And then, I thought, those shoes look really similar to the ones I've seen from Balmain.

Lo and behold, they are! (And these knockoffs are really affordable). They aren't bad looking and the Wet Seal's "Jeweled Strappy Heel" pair is slightly different because of the platform sole but both shoes have 4.5" heels. The Balmain's "Crystal Embellished Studded Sandals" pair has crystals on the straps while the Wet Seal...well I'm sure you know it's fake stones. Nonetheless, it's still a great buy... from $2,300 to $15.00. Can't really beat that, it's almost like getting a pair of free shoes.
